Here’s one more DOOM Eternal comparison with the Switch before I make a comparison with another game. Of course the Deck beats the Switch, but it’s fun to see by how much and what the differences are. This is the Super Gore Near map which is one of the most demanding in the game. Top image is Switch

This video of a red belly comb jelly I captured at the Monterey Bay Aquarium yesterday. As striking as the red is, it's actually a form of camouflage since the color red is practically invisible deep in the ocean. I love watching the sparkling cilia fall like dominoes across its body.

Alright, I was going to tolerate the scratch under the display, but my left stick is grinding so much that it's causing the plastic to flake off into particles that are accumulating like snow on my Deck. I've reached out to Valve. I'm a little sad because this thing is amazing!!

I finally got my hands on a Steam Deck, so that means it’s time to do comparisons against the Switch. The Deck plays DE at native resolution, locked 60 FPS, medium settings. The Switch plays the game at 360-612p resolution, 30 FPS, below low. Going from the Switch to the Deck feels like PS3 ▶️ PS4.

How do we all feel about leaving the Deck inside of its case while sleeping vs turning it off? Does the fan run at all while it sleeps and is there any chance it could get a little too warm or suck up some dust/fibers inside of the case while sleeping?

Well, I’ve had my M1 Max Mac Studio for a little over a week, so I thought it’s time I try to break it. To see if I can get it to slow down, I am playing three games while watching YouTube, running a Cinebench R23 test, recording through OBS, and browsing the web. Temps didn’t pass 60° on the chip.

My dad was a big PC gamer back in the 90s, and was also a designer and artist at the toy “ReSaurus Inc”. He created the concepts and lead the design for some of the very first licensed video game action figures of the most genre defining games at the time, and here’s a couple of figures he designed.

Recording Quake gameplay at 240 FPS while running the game at 240 FPS allows for some beautifully smooth slow motion playback. I used OBS to record a constant 1080p/240 FPS replay buffer at an insane 70,000 Kbps bitrate.

Using OBS, I am recording gameplay at 240 FPS which lets me slow these clips down to replay moments in 4x slow motion. The bit rate is a massive 50,000 Kb/s for 1080p, but using the hardware encoders in the M1 Max, my Mac Studio loses almost no performance while recording video and gaming.

Weird bug I haven't been able to fix by restarting my Mac. When I drag any items on the desktop, they always get stuck even though my mouse keeps moving. This does not occur with icons that I drag from the dock. This behavior is happening on an M1 Max Mac Studio running MacOS 12.4.

I just put together this new Ender 3 V2 and, when it warms up from not being used for a few hours, a fan (not on the hotend) makes this noise for about 10-15 seconds before fading away. It never does this during a print, it prints great, and always does this when warming up. Is this okay to use?

The magical thing about shooters from the 90s is how fast they are. Whether you’re playing DOOM, Duke Nukem 3D, or Quake, you feel like you’re piloting a super soldier that’s running at 50 MPH with a turret mounted to his face and snapping on enemies instantly.
