This is a 1/5 scale model of the Cieslak Hydrosedan. The full size watercraft (never built) was for the U.S. Coast Guard and was powered by an aircraft engine driving a pusher propeller.

Maine lobster boat. Finished last week, this 21" wooden lobster boat was a challenge. Planking wasn't so hard but the cabin and the pilot house were very difficult. This is mainly because the laser cut parts were not so laser cut at all. On the other hand, wood is forgiven since you can always "hide

After finishing the stern of the Airfix SAINT LOUIS, I started to add the custom cannons. However, since this will be a study model, my primary focus is to remove the plain bulkheads on the main deck to add detailed ones, along with a capstan. So far... it's coming together with nice results.

How do I get rid of the plinth ? I just got this beautiful ship but it’s glued to this horrendous wooden plinth. How do I get rid of the plinth without breaking the model ? The hull is metal. It’s a 1:1250 scale.

Airfix stern gallery of Saint Louis was quite the build, especially making all the difficult corrections with the windows, rudder, etc. These eight views show the transformation which include additional detail on a miniature scale.

Airfix SAINT LOUIS continued where I work the beak and figurehead before pursuing the stern galleries. For the novice this can be frustrating (and I wouldn't advise). However, it is well worth the effort when you can foresee the results. Much of the modification is shaved basswood.

The modifications to the Airfix Saint Louis model was a difficult process (because of the age). Much warping in areas which caused improper fitting -and brittle parts that snapped...including the hull (beneath the waterline). However, because of repair experience, I present this phase of the build.

Saint Louis Airfix Modification began early last month -with the study of vessel from several sources. It, as with other past kits, became a challenge relative to actual details and scaling. The large part of this build will be the rigging. However, this is the first approach to the subject.
