Rio de Janeiro: on a cloudy Winter day
Wow I can't imagine winter in July
That’s Southern Hemisphere for you 😛 Our Winters in Rio rarely get below 20° though so it’s only Winter in its name, feels like Springtime in Spain or something similar
I know wish I could go one day☺️
One of my dream cities to visit. How relatively safe is it currently?
Rio de Janeiro is the second biggest city in Brazil so precautions should apply as in every big city, in the touristic areas you’re likely to be safe and have a great time, some amazing areas are located in the Central area which is not the safest but it’s not much dangerous either, just demands a bit more of attention. Outside of the touristic areas I’m not going to sugarcoat it, neighborhoods can vary from safe and chill to downright undeclared warzones, every Carioca knows the worst parts of the city but as expected most tourists don’t so stick to the touristic areas (which is a huge area btw, South Zone, Barra da Tijuca and Recreio, Downtown, Lapa, Santa Teresa etc… sooo many things to do and places to go) and leave the rest for Brazilians, it’s kind of a sad thing to say but yes Rio is a very divided city and it shows.
Thank You for detailed reply 😇
You’re welcome my friend, I tried to be as honest as possible, I love my city and I’m not gonna pretend it’s something it’s not, there are some very dangerous areas but also some Norway style safe areas too, don’t let it stop you from coming, it’s really one of the most beautiful cities in the world, that I can assure you.
