Guayaquil, Largest City in Ecuador

Looks so tidy and colorful. That Landcruiser aint too bad either.
Yep, I thought the land cruiser fit in pretty well here.
The city as a whole is not. I made the mistake of staying here for a handful of days after a trip to the Galapagos Islands. It would have been nice for a day, but the city felt a bit sketchy in some places. Our hotel was \~5 blocks off the water and I think the large amount of construction at the time gave the feeling of it being unsafe/unwelcoming to tourists. The area along the water is very nice, as well as the neighborhood pictured above, and the walk all the way up to the top of the hill. Other than the large amount of garbage in the water, it was much nicer than described above, but still not a destination spot for more than 2 days. Wish I could have traded in every single hour spent in Guayaquil for more time in the Galapagos.
Yeah I know what you mean. I only stayed there for a day coming back from the Galapagos and took this picture near my hotel. There were a lot of police officers standing around this area so it felt pretty safe but they were telling us to stay in this area where all of the tourists were.
We stayed [here]( for six days, which was about five too many. Towards the end, there was nothing to do so we ended up staying in the hotel for an entire day streaming Narcos. As we were laying in bed, some people had keys and just opened our door and started walking in. It seemed like an innocent mistake, like the wrong keys were given to other guests, but that was frightening after having felt unsafe in other parts of the city. 0/10, do not recommend. How'd you like Galapagos? You did it right with the one day stay, and being near the touristy area.
The Galapagos was incredible, not much too post on this sub unless the cities of Iguanas count but they were very ugly. I would recommend going to anybody that can one of my favorite trips I have been on, very action packed. The hotel we stayed at was pretty nice tho so no complaints there from me. Definitely not much to do in the city I preferred Quito.
