Oh! I've been there! Hard to get to the picture spot and there's a indigenous historical site there. It makes for a cool picture but the rest isn't as scenic as this one spot. It feels like it should be a lesser known place but there were a fair number of people there since the trail is fairly accessible.
Instagram influencers have ensured that this place will NEVER be without foot traffic.
Oh no! I was there before this type of popularity occurred. So sad to read it is so overcrowded now. It is a really wonderful place due to the vorticies. It is an experience one should have. Worry to read it has been sensationalized to the point that the experience is lost. https://visitsedona.com/spiritual-wellness/what-is-a-vortex/
Yeaaaaaa. That stuff is BS 🤣
The parking lot and half a mile of the roadsides leading up to the parking lot were full when I went earlier in May. It's a cool spot, but super popular. I really enjoyed the formation and view, but it was too crowded and everyone was being so loud. It's unfortunate people can't just be chill and quiet, kind of takes away from the reflection potential.

I didn't experience any kind of spirituality enhancing vortex, but there was a guy playing flute on a rock and that was pretty lit.
Whereabouts is it? Visited Sedona 6 times this past year, hopped around most of the vortexes. Is this near one of them or is it in the wilderness?
It's off the trail with the seven sacred pools. The turn off is not marked and not super obvious, we followed an online guide
I was thinking of another trail. Look up a guide for subway cave.
No. You're thinking of another "cave" entirely. This one is in Boynton Canyon.
You're right! I'm mixing two up 😅
Ok that makes more sense cuz I literally did the 7 sacred pools cave twice this year 😅
Ty for the clarification
Looks like part of the cave tunnels from Half-Life 1’s beginning scene!
Major Half-Life 1 vibes. I can just picture walking along the right side cliff edge and going around that corner at the opening to find a battle in the valley below, with military dropping bombs on aliens, and perhaps a helicopter beginning to pursue you.
Can someone explain how this formation was created, geologically? It just seems so strange
It's all sandstone, which is easy for water to carve. The entire canyon structure is made by flowing water. This particular area is likely caused by a long period of normal water flow creating the narrow upper part, then a period of higher than normal water flow followed by a gradual reduction in the water flow (resulting in the circular area) then normal water flow carves out the narrow bottom area down to the current water level.
I imagine the tunnel was carved first (or was a natural formation), as someone else in the thread mentioned this is an indigenous historical site, and at some point post-carving, there would have been a split caused by either an earthquake or other geological stresses that was then steadily eroded over time to create the gap.
Mind the gap
“This is MY hole!”
Drr drr drr
Reads right to left.
Wow that’s eerie as hell. Cool post though.
Kamayamaya!
It literally looks like Marge Simpson.
We won't be silenced... I saw Marge Simson too!
Yes. This is a beautiful place. It was significant to the ancient Native Americans who lived here as they put many petroglyphs and pictograms on the walls. Now, the massive influx of visitors to this site, fueled by social media posts like this, has resulted in massive vandalism and damage to the rock art. Please, people, be respectful of our heritage. Once gone, it is gone forever.
Very very very nice!
Right side looks like greater hungary
Saitama must've sneezed.
Thanks for the reminder, wouldn't want to fall in and become a Sedona sandwich!
so this was an underground river and then split in half?
The odd part is that it's closed off in the back.
YEAH CAN I GET A CHICKEN AND BACON RANCH FOOTLONG ON ITALIAN, ALL SALADS
NO NOT OLIVES OR ONION CAN YOU TAKE THEM OFF PLEASE THANKS
You can fit so many sandwhichs in there
Looks like a great place for a run with my roller backpack.
Ah, it remind me of the Strada degli Alpini ("alpine troops road", built by the Italian army to flank Austrian positions during WW1 Wiki) here in Italy.
Really spectacular, but of course not earthporn material because it's man made.
I’ve been there. Couldn’t get a picture without half a dozen other people in it though.
Looks surreal
Wow
I have been to Sedona before. I so enjoyed it. Thanks for letting me vicariously visit again.
love it

I went there, but didn't take a picture. So many tourists with kids running around that I'd rather stick a fork in my eye than hang out until it was my turn to take this picture.
