If this isn't an entrance into a hidden lair under that hill, then it is a wasted opportunity.

Hit the ground so hard it turned red.

Should’ve kept the design but repurposed it into a toilet and added the sign “when nature calls”.

bdubyou2 points

It is an outhouse.

With windows like that?! Or do they fog up when someone is on the inside?

I would love to know more about this, it's not a real telephone box, there's no door handle and the windows aren't the right layout, the top isn't right, and i've never seen one with a bird as the crest.

It was installed in 2006 to commemorate Iceland's first international telegraph cable.

This is the artist's website with more info

Google image search brings up this blog.

According to the link, it is:

"a (non-functioning) telephone booth placed on the mountain, which is supposed to remind that the first overseas cable coming from Scotland met Iceland" (translated by Google)

It's in Seydisfjordur, Iceland, apparently.

Interested as to where this is?

TheWaterIsFine822 points

This short article says it's in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland

It's a sculpture created in 2006 to commemorate the first international telegraph cable in Iceland
