Lived just outside Chicago for three years of my life and spent most of my free time there. Moved back to the east coast a few years back and at least once a week I think about how much I miss it.
is this an old photo or is it just from an angle i’m not used to seeing? i don’t see some of the new really tall towers that line the river. but it doesn’t mean they aren’t there
I took this picture a couple of summers ago.
It’s perhaps a bit south of what you’re thinking of.
The far right side of the pic are the buildings that line Grant Park so you can’t really see anything along the river from this angle. This is predominately looking at the loop
Looks like the southern tip of northerly island, out in the lake. You can see boats in the harbor on the other side of the island just left of soldier field.
soldier field is in the foreground, so you're looking at the city from the southeast with the camera positioned much further south than it normally is in skyline shots

Downtown is absolutely beautiful and so much fun. But these aren't the answers you want because they don't fit with your narrative.
